Weekend is always a nice time to experiment new recipes. Breakfasts is a good way to splurge and prepare anything that is not just an easy fix. This is a recipe I've learned growing up. I can't remember to which playdate I have encountered this fare but I do remember relatives copying it afterwards.
So do enjoy and share with my childhood feasts.
Ingredients:
Toast Bread (in Philippines also known as Tasty Bread)
ham
pepper
eggs (beaten)
Procedure:
1. Flatten all toast bread with rolling pin.
2. Spread butter and add a dash of pepper.
3. Arrange one layer of cheese and topped with one layer of ham.
4. Roll the toast with the ham and cheese inside (it will look like a sushi roll) and dip in a bowl of beaten eggs.
5. Again, roll the rollies in a bowl filled of bread crumbs. Set aside.
6. Heat a pan with oil or butter and fry the rollies one by one making sure to turn it soon afterward to prevent burning.
7. Drain rollie on a paper towel.
8. Cut into half and serve.
I remember using an empty cleaned long bottle for flattening the bread. An easy treat to do even for kids. I did not add any salt with the pepper because the cheese already provides a nice saltiness to the morsel.
