Italian Costini

Different parts of Italy have different kinds of favorite snack. This toast bread snack that smells like pizza is a recipe shared to me by a good Italian friend. Thank you Frau R. Bassi!

Ingredients:

Toast bread (In Philippines they call this Tasty Bread)

butter

tomatoes cut into circles

mozzarella thinly cut

salt and pepper

ham

Procedure:

1. Preheat oven to 200 deg C.

2. Line all toast bread in a tray. Spread butter thinly. Put little bit of salt and pepper.

3. Arrange ham, mozzarela, tomato on top.

4. Bake for 10 minutes or until mozzarella is bubbly.

I made this for our guests back home and everyone was raving about it. All went home with the new recipe in hand. I used oven toaster then for practicality. Just be careful coz it might turn out burnt. The original recipe Frau Bassi gave me calls for sardines on top. I prefer the ham instead. You can also opt with brushing tomato sauce or catsup on top. Experiment!
